Transport Design Guide

innovative building in the Peak District

Transport infrastructure has a functional role in ensuring that those travelling to, from and within the National Park are able to do so in a safe and informed way. The infrastructure should direct users to the most appropriate route for their journey. However, transport infrastructure is also highly visible to both visitors to and residents of the National Park.

Because of this, it's important that in addition to giving consideration to function, legislation and budget, that regard isalso given to the National Parks' landscape and setting when planning new transport infrastructure.

The Peak District National Park Authority has prepared this Transport Design Guide Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) to provide further detail to transport design policy contained within the Local Development Plan for the National Park. This includes the Local Development Framework Core Strategy Development Plan Document (2011) and the Development Management Policies Document (2019). In combination, the two documents comprise the Local Plan for the Peak District National Park.
