Learning in your Setting
Our Learning and Discovery Team deliver school visits for thousands of pupils every year, at locations throughout the Peak District National Park.
However we are aware that there are many reasons why not all schools are able to come and enjoy a visit with us, so we are keen to support schools in making the most of their own school grounds and other local outdoor spaces for learning and wellbeing. This mirrors the recommendation in government guidance that "schools should also make use of outdoor spaces in the local area to support delivery of the curriculum."
CPD for Teachers and Educators
To support schools in developing their own outdoor learning provision, we offer CPD to help develop outdoor learning in your setting. For example, in Spring / Summer 0f 2023 we will be running regular workshops for Primary teachers, to increase skills and confidence in planning outdoor-based lessons in and near your school.
We are also able to offer whole-staff CPD sessions, in your school setting, depending on our availabilty. Please contact us for more information and to discuss your requirements.
Self-led Visits
If you are planning your own self-led visit to the Peak District National Park, please see our Planning a Self Led Visits page, for useful resources and information.
Ambassador Schools
If your school joins our Ambassador Schools programme, we may be able to offer you an assembly to help your pupils understand the special qualities of the National Park, and how they can make a difference themselves in helping to look after the National Park. We may even be able to organise for one of our Learning and Discovery Rangers, or Engagement Rangers, to visit your setting to lead a session with your pupils. See our Ambassador Schools page for more details of this programme.
