Partial closures to car parking at Stanage - 21-25 February
This is an archived press release
Friday 18 February 2022
To allow helicopter operations to take place and assist conservation and habitat works in nearby upland areas, the following car parks will be affected next week...
- Upper Burbage: partial closure from Tuesday 22 February, with a full day closure later in the week (weather dependent) to allow helicopter access.
- Hooks Carr (Stanage Edge): partial closure throughout the week for materials storage.
- Our Hollin Bank Car Park (Stanage Edge) will remain open as normal, but please observe any on-site signage related to recent timber works. National Trust car parking is also available at the Longshaw Estate for members and as Pay & Display.
Please do not park on local road verges as this can restrict farm and emergency access, and conditions may be particularly poor following recent wet weather.
Why is the space required?
These works have been rescheduled due to recent poor weather limiting the opportunity for a helicopter to operate. We are required to complete all works in these habitats during the winter and prior to the recognised bird breeding season which takes place from 1 March. The space allocated within car parks allows for both storage of the materials being transported, and safe landing and take-off zones for the helicopter. Short, ‘stop/start’ closures of nearby roads may take place during flight periods - expected to be one day.
Operations may be impacted at short notice depending on weather conditions at the time.
