Performance Assessment Report

Every five years National Park Authorities have an external assessment – our equivalent of a school’s Ofsted inspection.

They look at:

• What we are doing well
• Where we can improve in the future.

An assessment team visited the authority in October 2010 and spoke to around 150 people including residents, businesses, parish councils, local authorities and environmental groups, as well as staff and members at the authority to get their views on the work we do to improve the national park. They also look at evidence of our work and go on a tour of the national park to see projects for themselves.

The assessment report they produced can be seen below.

A Performance Improvement Plan has been produced by the authority to respond to the recommendations in the report.
