Broadband: connecting the Peak District

Internet and access and broadband are vital, not only now, but in the future. Business Peak District, in partnership with local authority partners, organised a series of events for rural residents, businesses and communities, who are interested in developing a local high-speed broadband solution.

The evenings included:

• a summary from Derbyshire County Council about their broadband activities
• a presentation to encourage you to register your interest in receiving better broadband
• a presentation of good examples of community broadband projects
• a discussion about the challenges of progressing community initiatives
• information about community broadband funding
• recruitment of broadband community champions

The project is funded by the Peak District LEADER Programme and supported by a partnership of Business Peak District, the local authorities covering the Peak District, as well as voluntary and community sector partners. The project is managed by the Peak District National Park Authority.

Digital Derbyshire

Derbyshire County Council is running Digital Derbyshire, a programme to bring better broadband to Derbyshire. We need to be able to demonstrate there is a demand to potential suppliers and investors. You can help do this by registering your interest in better broadband for your home or business.
