Changing Places facilities

Enhanced facilities for those with additional disability or complex care needs.

Changing Places Toilets (CPTs) and changing facilities can help provide extra opportunities for those with further care needs to enjoy the outdoors; alongside family, friends and carers.

A fully equipped CPT often includes:

  • Level and accessible entry
  • Height adjustable changing unit/bed for young people and adults
  • Height adjustable toilet and personal care
  • Powered hoist for assisted movement within the facility and to/from mobility equipment

In the Peak District National Park, primary CPT facilities can be found at:

Millers Dale Station

Including:

  • Fully equipped CPT
  • Accessible interpretation and covered picnic area (the Millers Dale Station Goods Shed)
  • CafĂ© and refreshments
  • Level car parking facilities, including EV charging
  • Immediate access to the surfaced, traffic-free, multi-user Monsal Trail (8.5 mile route available)

Chatsworth House

  • Fully equipped CPT
  • Heritage property
  • Local trails

Ilam Park (National Trust)

  • Fully equipped CPT
  • Heritage property
  • Local trails

Further CPT facilities are available close to the National Park at: Matlock (Matlock Farm Park, Meadowview Centre), Cromford Wharf, Whaley Bridge (Tesco), Leek (Haregate Community Centre). A non-powered CPT is also based at Torside car park between Sheffield and Manchester.

Coming soon: A new CPT is expected to open at Parsley Hay National Park Bike Hire Centre on the High Peak/Tissington Trail(s) in 2025.
