Jess Rogers - co-founder and Creative Director at Carbon Jacked
Carbon Jacked is an environmental start-up that helps individuals and businesses combat climate change through carbon footprint reduction, rewilding and education.
Co-founded in May 2020 by Jess Rogers, Jacques Sheehan and Jack Curtis, it aims to make sustainability easy, affordable and attractive - so more people get out into nature and take an active role in protecting the planet. Carbon Jacked is a Peak Partner of the Peak District National Park Foundation.
Jess says: "The driving force behind what we do is our love of the great outdoors and adventure and our mantra is ‘Saving the planet shouldn’t be boring’.
"I adore the great outdoors - in particular, trail running and wild swimming. I grew up on a small farm and so the outdoor life has always been deep-rooted in me. I’m currently based in Loughborough, with the Peak District close by.
"Alongside my business (and life) partner Jacques Sheehan, weekends are often spent in the Peaks exploring new routes and villages - these weekends consist of sunrise trail runs, afternoon coffee stops and evenings spent in local pubs before retiring to nearby lodgings or camping spot.
"So, when the opportunity came up for Carbon Jacked to partner with the Peak District National Park Foundation, it was a no-brainer.
"We are extremely proud to have the Peak District National Park as one of the projects that Carbon Jacked memberships support - in particular with reforestation along the Monsal Trail and peatland restoration."
Jess, Jacques and Jack built Carbon Jacked from scratch without investment and work with businesses and individuals.
Jess explains: "On the business side, we help organisations to set sustainability strategies, measure and reduce their carbon footprint, become carbon neutral / negative and protect nature.
"On the individual side, we have awesome monthly memberships that plant trees and support fantastic environmental projects, including reforestation along the Monsal Trail and peatland restoration in the Peak District National Park.
"We're a small but mighty team who do loads of other interesting things such as producing Europe’s first Carbon Negative wine, running a zero-emissions food-bank collection service, running an influencer programme for climate ambassadors and producing a sustainable clothing range.
"We also produce epic content across our Instagram and TikTok channels to inspire people to get out into nature; we run a blog that simplifies sustainability for businesses and individuals and we frequently write articles for national newspapers. We run targeted campaigns around big environmental events and moments, such as the COP climate conferences."
As well as being Creative Director at Carbon Jacked, Jess is also a presenter, MC and commentator and has worked extensively in women’s sport. She was previously Head of Superleague and Major Events at England Netball. Prior to that, she lived in Edinburgh and was an event manager at Red Bull – overseeing a host of extreme outdoor and female events across the country.
Jess now balances Carbon Jacked with being a consultant for England Netball on their major events as well as presenting and hosting their international and Superleague fixtures.
She adds: "At Carbon Jacked, we want to help businesses and individuals tackle climate change in an interesting and effective way. As Creative Director, I am the lucky one and, in my opinion, get to do all the fun and cool stuff for the business.
"I lead on all the creative, branding, content, marketing, advertising, events and partnerships for the company, which I balance with being Events Consultant and Presenter for England Netball.
"Carbon Jacked is working hard to persuade people who wouldn't normally take action on climate change to get involved, live more sustainably and protect nature."
